craft fun - where to put all those tiny hairclips?

i am slowly building up macy's hair clip collection and i came across this really cute idea that holds her clips but is also a really cute decoration for her room. and since we are renting, there is a really strict rule about putting any holes in the wall...boo! so this was a good thing to make as it is very lightweight and can be held up by a pin. dont worry, i used an existing hole..hehe..

here it is...

and a close up of the flower pot...

i had heaps of fun making this. nice and bright and cheerful!

am i crazy?

i know, i know, i have been away from blogging for ages...no excuses here, just slack...anyway...

awhile ago i bought a couple of cloth nappies for macy just to try this cloth nappy thing out, and i am now loving them. it took me a bit to get used to, but i have decided to get a few more. i have her in them just while im at home, so i guess i could be classed as a part-time cloth user!

i came across an article in which a mum speaks about cloth wipes and why they chose to use them. using cloth wipes just doesnt make any sense to me but after reading this article i decided to give them a go. in the article, her reasons for using cloth wipes were not only the money aspect but for the reason of when you change a cloth nappy, you have no where to put the disposable wipe! i too have found this really frustrating and so it made sense to me that if you use cloth wipes, you can just chuck them in the wash with the nappies. *lightbulb moment* haha.. and every extra bit of money i can save would be useful. i need to get a spray bottle together and make up a cloth wipes solution next.

so i got together some flannel material that i have in one of my craft boxes and an old basic cloth nappy, cut them up to 8"x 8" squares (the same size as disposable wipes). i then just overlocked them together and ta-da! im only 1/2 way through as i know that im going to need more. here is a look at them when they are all still nice and crisp with no hint of poopy-ness!

and of course, my little helper, always willing to be amongst it all!

so, back to the title of my post - am i crazy? i havent actually used these yet so i will have to give you an update on how i go. have any of you used cloth wipes? i would love to hear all about it!

craft fun - love wreath & dress for macy

i made another wreath, this time for my nana....

and this is a dress i made for macy for last summer. the pattern ended up a weird size so it just fits her now for this summer! notice the action shot - since macy is now walking full time (well nearly running actually...) it is SO hard to get a photo of her! i was actually quite surprised that this one came out in focus...

for christmas this year i have been trying to make all the presents for our family. so much fun but so much work! i have so many different projects going at once that i feel a bit overloaded, but at the same time, i am finding it really rewarding making gifts this year. i hope that the build up to christmas isnt too much for all of you right now! :)

macy's 10 months old!

in 2 months time macy will be turning one! i can hardly believe it!

on every 25th of the month i find it hard to believe that she is another month older. she is changing so fast.
here are a few things that have changed since my last update of her...
  • she is now crawling properly on hands and knees. for awhile she would resort back to army crawling because she could move faster, but now she is full time on her knees.
  • she LOVES baths, especially with jobe.
  • she loves music and will have a good boogie to the beat.
  • she has 6 teeth.
  • her bald spot has grown out - yay!
  • she is very clingy to me - i feel really special because of this, but at times it can be frustrating because its so demanding. i often have to sneak around the house so she doesnt see me and start calling for me!
  • she is starting to say words - she just says the sounds, for example, fish is 'ishh' and cat is 'at'. she also tries to say dog, nana and grand dad. she has been saying mumma and dadda for awhile now. mainly 'mumma!!' when she wants something!
  • i have dropped the dreamfeed!! hurray!! for the last 4 nights i havent fed her at all till at least 6 in the morning. such a relief getting rid of the dreamfeed as tim and i can go out at nights and not have to rush back for the feed.
  • she LOVES to eat! she is really getting into her finger foods. if jobe is eating around her she gets really jealous and wants what he has!
  • she picks anything off the floor that looks like she can eat it. this makes me quite on edge. jobe was the opposite and didn't put much in his mouth at all.
  • she loves being in the car with jobe. he makes her laugh so much in there and i love hearing them interact and crack each other up.
here's a photo to end my post. the other day i heard jobe laughing and laughing in the lounge so i went to check on him and there was macy...

...wearing his sunnies....so cute!

jobe was pretty stoked...

hope you are all having a great monday!

a sneak peek!

amongst the craziness of macy being unwell this past week, i have managed to get some knitting done. here is a sneak peek of my project - you will have to check back to see what it is! hehe... the only clue i will give is that it is something for macy. i have been wanting to knit her something since before she was born, and so finally i am!....

hmmm...what could it be? ;)

my two beauties!

even though macy is only 7 months old, her and jobe are already the best of mates...

i love watching them interact with each other and the way that jobe is a protective big brother...

here they are on mothers day morning with the special breakfast my wonderful, thoughtful husband cooked for me - eggs benedict with mango on the side...yum!

i feel so blessed to have such a cool family!

my little girl is 6 months today!

6 months really goes fast when you have 2 kids. i can't believe we welcomed macy into the world 6 months ago today. life sure has gotten a lot busier and crazier at times but we wouldn't change it for anything.

here is a few things about macy to this date...
  • she has 1 tooth peeking through,
  • she can get up on her hands and knees and do a bit of rocking,
  • she can roll to where she wants to be - this is usually after jobe's toys and especially likes his cars, which he isn't too happy about!
  • she is nearly sitting up on her own,
  • she is trying out new solids and seems to love the carrots and rice watties baby food (i really don't see what she sees in it!),
  • she is doing well sleeping at nights and im usually only up once to feed her,
  • she is a bit easier to get to laugh now - the other night she thought a kfc box being hit on the table in front of her was hilarious!
  • she already has such a funny personality and makes us laugh at how cute she is!
  • she is a really happy girl and it is such a treat watching her grow and explore.

we can't wait to see what the next 6 months brings!!

teething has begun!!

macy's first tooth has made an appearance now and i had definitely been given indications that it was soon to arrive. she has been unsettled, drooling and gnawing on her hands. jobe had no trouble at all with teething and i was always surprised when he broke through with a new tooth. macy on the other hand, is a very sensitive girl and she seems to be a bit more upset about the whole thing. i have been using 'weleda teething powder' which i think has been a huge help (and i say 'i think' because its hard to really know!). i always go for the natural alternative before giving her anything else but the other day i felt so sorry for her that i bought my first tube of bongela, however, it is still sitting unopened in her change table as i still could not bring myself to give it to her. i read up about baltic amber teething necklaces and decided to give it a try. i must say that i am a sceptic about these but i am willing to give them a go on the chance that they do help her!

so here she is modelling her first piece of jewellery!!

she hasn't worn it for very long so i can't give it a proper assessment yet but i would love to hear from anybody who has used these and what they thought of them. did they actually help or is it just another thing that we are sucked into buying??

either way, i must say it looks pretty cute on her! i personally didn't think i would be buying macy any jewellery this early on!

i hope to give you a successful update on the necklace soon!
